Hello, all!Would you kindly look at the chart below and tell me if you recognize this family?I believe the second Anna to be my great-grandmother, Anna M., who married Thomas K. Winter who was born about 1875 in Wiltshire, England and immigrated to the US around 1902, possibly with a brother named William.Thomas and Anna had two children, Edna Luella b 9 Feb 1903 and George William (my grandfather) born, 14 Jul 1908, both in Ft. Dodge, IA.Aunt Edna's death record shows mother's maiden name as Krohn, Grandpa's as Kohn.I was privileged to know both my Aunt and my great-grandmother, but since Anna never spoke about her family (some fear about being sent back to Germany that I'm sure was unfounded), we never met any of the siblings my mother had heard she had.The family below seems a good match and starting place although it is from an unconfirmed Ancestral File:
Christian KROHN, b. abt 181, Prussia, married May 16, 1853 in Exin, Posen, Prussia to Friedricke REDDMANN, b. Feb 28, 1835 Posen, Prussian, to Gottlieb Charles REDDMANN and Wilhelmine ??.
1.Anna Rosine, b. 18 Jul 1854, Sipiory, Posen, Prussia, d. 12 Apr 1940, Avoca, Iowa County, WI
2.Paulina, b. abt 1858, WI
3.Christoph, b. abt 1859, WI
4.Caroline, b. abt 1860, WI
5.John, b. Feb 1862, WI
6.Mary, b. abt 1865, WI
7.Ann, b. abt 1868, WI
8.William b, 1870, WI
This record shows Friedricke's death as 16 Aug 1863, but that may be an error if these children are in fact hers.Or did Christian remarry to another REDDMAN?(My great-grandmother's death record shows her as born in Wisconisn 22 Aug 1868, mother's maiden name REDBURN, which could easily have been a misread of the German script for Reddmann or a mishearing because of the accent.)
I found an IGI record apparently abstracted from the Prussian church records for:
Christian Ludwig Krohne, Christened 11 Jan 1818, Evangelisch, Westfalen, Preussen, parents Casper Heinrich KROHNE and Anna Charlotte REDDEHASEN.
This is also unverified but a good possibility.
Christian and Friedricke are buried at the Pulaski Prebyterian Church Cemetery in Pulaski, WI, but no death dates were posted on-line, so I can't verify them.
So are any of you Redmann researchers also mine?I surely hope so.This branch has been a huge mystery until just a few days ago and I am excited about the possibility of another very large branch on my family tree. Many thanks in advance.Susan.
