William Reeves (b. 1772), supposed son of George Reeves Sr and Jane Burton, of Grayson Co, VA/Wilkes Co, NC area, supposedly was married to Ann(or)Sarah Terrell sometime before 1792. I have seen claims in the internet that this William Reeves died in 1854 in Missouri. But I have never see any citation, where this information comes from. Below are notes I have accumulated so far on this William Reeves. I cannot not find this William Reeves (b. 1772)in the 1850 census, though I did find his supposed sons. Looking at the censuses 1800-1840, it seems that William Reeves was born during 1765-1770.
Looking at the 1850 census, we see a William Reeves at the end of the family of Gaston and Elizabeth Reeves, in Independence Co, Arkansas. He is listed as William Reeves, age 38, born in NC, a Baptist Clergyman. However, in Ripley Co, MO, which is just over the State line, we find Timothy Reeves, another supposed son of William Reeves (b. 1772). At the end of this family is another Wm Reeves, age 32, born in NC. Supposedly, the elder William Reeves (b. 1772) had a son named William Reeves. So which 30+ year old William Reeves is the son of the Elder William Reeves (b. 1772) and supposed brother of both Gaston Reeves and Timothy Reeves?
I had a thought, looking at the family of Gaston and Elizabeth Reeves, could that 38 year old William Reeves, really be an 88 year old father William Reeves? Or is that brother William Reeves?
And does ANYBODY know where that 1854 death in Missouri is documented?
