My grandfather came from the same area, close to Rodenhausen which is just a few meters across the Luxembourg border. He was born in Lützkampen (Germany), 15 kms north/east of Dasburg. He and most of his family went to Haan/Solingen near Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr district (coal mining, steel etc.)He wrote his name also with two f. A mistake in the birth register changed our name into REIFERS. Our name could be traced in the village named REIFF, close to Dasburg and Rodenhausen. Harsh climate, non fertile soil forced our ancestors to leave the area to look for better living in the industrial areas of Germany or the U.S.
