William John Reinhart, 92, died Sept. 17, 2011, at his home. He was born in Detroit, lived in Bloomfield Hills and had a winter home in Stuart since the 1970s. He began his legal career as an attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, eventually retiring as chief of the Appellate Division in Detroit. He embarked on a second career in private practice as a tax attorney representing clients before the IRS. He served in the military for six years, from 1939 to 1946, in World War II as a naval aviator in the Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and numerous other military honors. He graduated from St. Cecilia High School and completed both undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Detroit. Survivors include his daughters, Carol McAndrews, Janet Myers, Linda Efrusy and Lisa Obee; sons, Jack, Jim, Bob and Jerry; sister, Rosemary Jamieson; companion of 11 years, Liliane Calati; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Betty. Memorial contributions may be made to Capuchins, 1820 Mount Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207. Services: Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Royal Oak, Mich.
