Richard Leo Reinhart
83, of 980 West Street, Pittsfield, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Stone Creek, Ohio, on May 25, 1928, a son of Leo J. and Nola Cronebaugh Reinhart, he was a graduate of Stone Creek Jefferson High School and Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, and earned his masters degree of Ohio State University. He served as a First Lieutenant with the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1957, Mr. Reinhart went to work for the General Electric Company. He was employed in Human Resources for the Power Transformer and Naval Ordinance Department, retiring after more than 27 years service. He had worked eight years for Westinghouse also in Human Recourses. Mr. Reinhart was a very active member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Church Council. He was a member of the Pittsfield Rotary Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America, and served on the Berkshire Natural Resources Council, and helped with United Way drives while working at General Electric. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Austerlitz Club and the Alford Brook Club. He also enjoyed gardening and his dogs.
Mr. Reinhart leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Bucher, whom he married June 6, 1954. Besides his wife, Mr. Reinhart is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Levenberg and her husband, Dr. Steven, of Langhorne, Pa., and Catherine J. Bilger and her husband, Kurt, of Macungie, Pa.; a son, David Allan Reinhart and his wife, Deborah, of Manakin Sabot, Va.; two sisters, Rosalie Cugliari and her husband, Frank, Sr., of Dover, Ohio, and Bonnie Gwynn and her husband, Larry of Lawrenceville, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Levenberg and Kevin Levenberg, Daniel Reinhart, Kathleen Reinhart, Ryan Bilger and Kaitlin Bilger. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Rolan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Timothy Weisman, Pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Reinhart may be made to the Berkshire Natural Resources Council or to the Boy Scouts of American, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
