Who is the Elizabeth Renick Cunningham in Clinton OK?
My Sarah Elizabeth Hall b. 1846 in KY m. James Madison Renick b. 1842 in MO.They were m. 1866 in Fayette Co., TX, and lived in Bastrop Co., TX.
In 1904 they interviewed James for the publication of "Reminiscences of the Boys in Gray, 1861-1865".Here is James' words on page 636:
JAMES MADISON RENICK, Smithville, Texas. - "Born July 1, 1842, near Lexington, Mo.Enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 at San Antonio, Texas, as private in Company C, First Texas Cavalry, Terrell's Brigade, Bee's Division, Trans-Mississippi Army.My first Captain was B. Donnelly and First Colonel, A. Bushell. Was not wounded and never a prisoner. Was promoted to First Sergeant or Orderly Sergeant. My principle battles were Mansfield and Pleasant Hill, La. I want to say a word or so in reference to our First Lieutenant, who died at Brownville, Tex., on the Rio Grande. He was as fine a specimen of physical manhood as I have ever seen.He was taken sick and lived but a few days. His name was Aspinwall but I do not remember the initials."
OK, this takes James Madison back to Lexington, MO.His wife Sarah Elizabeth Hall is the sister to my ggg grandmother Nancy Pinkney Hall.Robbin mentioned a Henry and Prudence Renick.Sarah and Nancy had the name Prudence passed down through their Hall line starting with Prudence Roddy m. to James Hall from Ireland to Statesville, Iredell Co., NC.
Now how does the Cunningham come in?John Sydney Hall b. in NC and wife Arrena Stone b. in TN were living in Hickman Co., KY where Sarah Elizabeth Hall was born. They moved to Cunningham Prarie just out of Winchester on the Bastrop and Fayette Co., lines.John C. Cunningham owned the property where the Cunningham Cemetery is on Cunningham Prarie. His wife Susan Prentice and one son, John P. Cunningham are buried there. Also buried in this small cemetery are my Hall family, excluding Sarah Elizabeth Hall and her husband James Madison Renick, but buried with my grandparents and some of Sarah's sister's and brother's are Arthur N. Renick (son of J.M. and S.E. Renick) b. 12/9/1866 d. 10/16/1867, Ada Renick b. 9/28/1872 d. 7/9/1888 (??? most likely daughter of James and Sarah), John Renick b. 1850 d. 1867 (??? not sure who he was).
There sure are a bunch of names in the post by Robbin Harrison that are matching.Same thing with Lexington MO.
