Mary, I'm very interested in your Ressler posting for several reasons.I am a descendant of Daniel Rasler(Rossler) who was also on the Ship 'Priscilla' with Joh. Georg, Conrad and Henry. It's probable that they were brothers -- looking at their children's birthdates.I am interested in knowing what your source for the birthplace of John Heinrich Ressler is -- Stradtarchi, Germany?
So far I have found one source that places these men from Muhlacker (Durrmenz, Baden) Germany: Karl Ehmann, "Die Auswanderung in die Neuengland-Staaten aus Orten des Enzkreises im 18. Jahrhundert":, 943.46 W2e at the Family History Library. He also sites Michael Rossler, who came on the ship "Patience" in 1753 as being from Muhlacker as well.
I've looked at the German records but have been unable to verify this yet.Still working on this.
I am also wondering how you surmised that the John Heinrich Ressler who came on the Priscilla is the same as the John Ressler that probated in 1805 in Earl twp, Lancaster co, PA?Generally Germans went by what we would call our 'middle', not 'given' name.So the John Heinrich Ressler that came on the Priscilla would normally go by Henry Ressler, not John Ressler.
My research shows the John Heinrich Ressler (that you mention, and who came on the Priscilla) did marry Elizabetha Catarina Aras 26 Aug 1755 and had children: -George Ressler bap 29 Jun 1755 at Host Church, Womelsdorg, Berks co, PA with his sister -John Ressler b c1759 -sister John Heinrich Ressler died before 1778 when his widow married John Dice. She died 1791 Lancaster co, PA.
There is a record showing a Heinrich Roesler and wife Anna Maria having a son Christopher bap 10 May 1761 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, PA (born 6 Nov 1760). There is a tax in Donegal twp, Lancaster co, PA 1751: p.3 Henry Whisler4s Petter Russler 3s.6d. This may be the same Heinrich Roessler -- they spelled how it sounded often.
