Hi
What information do you want? I am a "native" Rhind and live near Perth (Scotland !) directly across the River Tay from the village and parish of Rhynd (an archaic spelling) where the name is generally accepted to derive from. The first written record of the name is that of Walter de Rynd who lived not far from here in around 1280. There are various farms and a hill in the area bearing the Rhind or Rhynd name and 29 listings in the local phone directory. Incidentally the name appears to be of Brythonic Celtic origin and probably existed for quite some time before Walter was mentioned. This is because the component parts of the name also appear in various place names in North Wales along with place names with the Aber prefix which is also abundant in this part of Scotland (aber meaning "mouth of"). It is thought these Celtic peoples settled in my area around 1000 to 1300 years ago.
Is this of any use ?
Regards
Stewart Rhind
