I have an 1864 edition of the New Testament published by the American Bible society.Inside are notes written as follows:"Jennie Rickabaugh is my name and Berlin is my station pity the man that every gits [sic] me or any of my relation." "Remember me when this you see for many miles a part [sic] are we Jennie RickabaughWilliam Smith""Presented to Ivy M. Lott by Jennie Rickabaugh May #25, 1882"There are some other things written, but I am unable to figure them out.
An interesting discovery is that the only scriptures I could find marked were in Matthew XIII - all of them deal with the tares, tares are gathered and burned, Son of Man will send angels to gather all that offend and cast into furnace of fire, cast into furnace of fire.I thought this was interesting in light of the note about Berlin.
Can anyone tell me about this Jennie?
I received this from my mother's estate, so I don't know where she got it or if it even belongs in the family.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.I am interested in selling the book, but need to know some history before I can do that.
