The Michael Reidinger/Ringer in my lineage was a different one from the Michael who married Elizabeth Ruppert. The Michael who married Ruppert was a son of the first Stephen and was probably born in the 1860s or 1870s in PA. (Family members had not started moving south and west yet at that time.)
The Michael in my line was born abt 1802 in Montgomery Co., in Virginia ... he was a son of Samuel Reidinger (who was b. abt 1758 and m. Catherine), who was in turn a son of Stephen, Sr.Samuel and his family appear to have migrated down the Appalachians to VA around 1800. His first couple of kids show PA birthplaces. My Michael would therefore have been a grandson of Stephen and a nephew of your Michael. My Michael also married a Catherine, surname Akers from VA.
From what I can tell, some of Samuel's kids ended up in Indiana, some in Tennessee, and some along with Samuel ended up in Alabama. I guess when the mountains ran out, they stopped.
