Thank you for the information. Here is a bit more on Matthew though it doesn't get me any further along. Matthew married Agnes Goff who was Edmund's widowed daughter in law. Their son had been killed in the Civil war. He married her in 1867 and he died the same year. I have a copy of her request to the Gov't pension after h either a divorce from or death of her third husband. He was a Davis. There were Ridleys all around the area where they lived and I have always thought there was a connection beween the Ridleys and Goffs but haven't proved it yet. Yes, the two young boys. One was E.W. Ridley. Eligah Washington Ridley. My first grandfather. He married a girl named Hannah and they lived in the next county. I don't know how long they lived there but I pick him up again on 1900 census for Mississippi. He and Hannah have had four children, One of whom is living. Can't find him on that census.
all four are a blank. 1910 census for Arkansas finds them in Drew County Arkansas with my grandmother,Virgie Kellum, and a five year old daughter who is my mother. I know Matthew and E.W. Ridley are connected. Son or grandson is my first choice but could have been a nephew. E.W. names his first son George Matthew. That is the first with my grandmother. I don't have any info on his first family with hannah. I need to connect them somehow so I can know which way to go next. I ws told by an uncle that he (E.W.) always said he had a half brother but the uncle did not recall the name. E.W.died in the 1920s in Ouachita Co Arkansas. I have not entered very much about dates and such for I did not know if you wanted anyof this for your self. Thanks so much for your help. Carolyn
