I am the granddaughter of Samual Clayborn and Eliza Riley of Benton and Tippah Counties in MS.
My direct lineage is as follows:
Miles and Sarah Riley, Amherst Co, VA, 1700,
parents of John Riley, Sr., a Revolutionary War hero buried in Blue Mountain, MS.
(Miles and Sarah also had a son, James, who married Ann and is buried in Marshall County, MS, and three daughters Elizabeth, Mary and Hannah.)
John Riley, Sr., who moved to Tippah County, MS in 1840,had fourteen children. Those known are Andrew, b. 1778, married Sarah; Nancy, b. 1796, Mary, married to Charles Besselleu, died, Dec, 13, 1801; John, Jr., B. May 12, 1800, married Drucilla Pitts, died 1866; Francis B. 1813; James, B. 1813, married Sarah.
Andrew, John Sr., oldest child was my great, great, great grandfather.He and wife Sarah had four children, Claiborne, b. 1813, married Nancy Moore Foster, b. 1825 in KY; Arminta, b. 1815 in AL; Frances, b. 1824 in Al; James, b. 1826 in AL.
Claiborne, eldest child of Andrew and Sarah, and his wife had twelve children.Mary Jane Foster, Claiborne's step-daughter; Andrew, b. 1840; John Whitfield, b. 1842; married Ann Tilton 1966; Amanda b. 1845; Francis P., b. 1848; James F., b. 1852; William L., b. 1854, married N.J. Roberson, 1876;
Samual Clayborne, b. 1856, d. 1921, married Eliza Matilda Alsup; Issac N., b. 1858; Lewis Martin, b. 1860, m. Annie W. Herring, 1887, d. 1943.
