I have numerous separate Rimmer's in my direct line (being an old North Meols family this is inevitable!), but my main interest is with my closest Rimmer line, that of Margaret Rimmer who married Edward Hodge in Toxteth in 1856. Edward was a Southport lad, Margaret was born in Liverpool, her father, James, being born Formby and her mother, Jane Aspinwall was from Halsall.
James and Jane married in Halsall, and only Margaret, the youngest was born in Liverpool. The only census with birthplaces on where I can find a possible match for the eldest child, Thomas, is in 1871 where he's listed as born Lancashire (wheras his children are listed as Liverpool). The next 2 siblings of Margaret were born in Formby. So Thomas would've been Halsall or Formby born.
I believe Thomas married Mary Ann Roberts of Holywell, Wales 1855 and had children Thomas 1857, Ann 1859, Edward 1864 and Henry 1866... however, I can only find them in 1871. Thomas wasn't with his parents in 1851, I can't find him in 1861. After 1871, they completely vanish, including all the children. Did they emigrate? Does anyone recognise this family?
