Hi Cousin Mark, You are a 5th-great-grandson of James & Phoebe Rimmer of Person County, NC.James born bet. 1745-1755 place unknown. He married Phoebe (believed to be a Ruffin, most hail from VA) about 1777.They were farming in the Bushy Fork area (later known as Hurdle Mills) and raising a family of eventually ten children.Their seventh was JEREMIAH -- your 4th-great. Jeremiah first bought 180 acres in Person County 1815 from Thomas Blalock, Sr.(This Thomas' daughter Elizabeth had married my 3rd-great SAMUEL Rimmer Sr. 1812)JEREMIAHmarried Parthina Netherly/Nethery, raising six known children in the Flat River area, until moving with adult children and grandkids to McNairy County, where they farmed. My last record about Jeremiah, McNairy July 1860: "1012 1022Jerry Rimmer(age:)72M(ale)Farmer650(value real property)385(value personal property)(born:)NC[cannot read or write]"He and Parthina disappear during the terrible 60s, and do not appear on 1870 Census. Both are suspected to be buried in McNairy someplace.
The JEREMIAH line now numbers at least in hundreds, maybe thousands, with most in TN (esp. McNairy & Decatur Counties) and NC (esp. Person Co., NC)
My earliest info on your GEORGE W. Rimmer branch is mostly census gleanings. The early 1900s with a boy CHARLES M. Rimmer is where it ends, for now.Feel free to email me. Glad to help.
