I, Thomas S. Ring, of the County of Forsyth and the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainties of my earthly existence, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First – That my executor (herein after named) shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay for all funeral expenses together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomever owing, out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
Item 1st, I give and devise to my beloved wife all the household and kitchen furniture and farming tools, and out of the household and kitchen furniture, she shall make up to Robert W. Ring, Sandford G. Ring, and Mary E. Ring (my children) the sum so as to make them equal in share with house furniture with Napoleon J. Ring, Levi Ring, and Nancy J. Neal (my children). Also, all my homestead adjoining the lands of F. H. Morris, R. H. Morris, and others, containing 93 acres more or less to be hers during her natural life or widowhood, and after that time, then the land to be sold and equally divided between all my children by each rendering a schedule of all they have had previous to that time.Also one hundred dollars in cash.Also one milk cow and calf her choice. Also one horse her choice. Also forty bushels of wheat and one hundred and fifty pounds of bacon. Also the corn on hand.
Item 2.Then and after my death, all the remainder I possess, in cash or solvent credits, or otherwise to be equally divided between my children.
And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Levi Ring my lawful executor to all intents and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.In witness whereof, I the said Thomas S. Ring do hereby set my hand and seal, this 28th day of June, A.D. 1888. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Thomas S. Ring to be his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.
