Hi Dink,
Louisa Emogene was four when she was taken from her family. Her mother was alive at that time and running a boarding house in Lexington, Lafayette Missouri - she is listed as head of household on the 1880 census records with children:
James: 15
William: 11
Annie: 8
Emma J. 4
as well as two boarders
Charles Cotton 28
Thomas Price 35
Malvina Amanda was listed as Widowed or Divorced. In 1880 Thomas Rippy was still alive and working with his oldest son on a farm nearby.
Louisa Emogene was raised by Charles Cotton (the boarder) and his wife. She is listed with them on the 1885 Kansas City Kansas census.
The only thing that she ever mentioned was that her mother's name was Amanda Kincaid.IIf she had memories of her brothers and sisters, she never mentioned them. Thanks for responding.
