"Samuel RISINGER was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania Dec 21, 1806 and died Dec 21, 1890.He married Mary BOWLIN Feb 14, 1834 and immigrated to Ripley County, Indiana in 1840.He was one of the pioneers of the state of his adoption, when the wild wolf and deer roamed the hills and valleys. He was a man of wonderful endurance both mental and physical, retaining his vigorous mind till the last.He died at the home of his daughter."
Is this the Samuel Risinger who shows up for the first time in Washington Co PA tax records in 1828?It isn't until 1834 (the same year as the above listed marriage) that he is taxed for property; 1 house and lot in Greenfield.
Is this the Samuel Risinger who is listed in 1850 Ripley Co census as 43 and a farmer from PA?Living with him are:
Maryborn in VAage 45 Robertborn in PAage 14 Elizabethborn in PAage 12 Lucinda Janeborn in PAage 10 Caroline Melissaborn in INage7 Lorindaborn in INage5
This Samuel is NOT listed as a son of Jacob Risinger in any genealogy that I have read.Could he be the son of Jacob's brother Henry who appears to have migrated with Jacob to Ripley Co IN?This from the 1850 Ripley Co IN census:
Henryborn in PAage 72Blacksmith Hannahborn in PAage 32 Georgeborn in PAage 30farmer Margaretborn in VAage 19 Sarahborn in INage 12 Jacobborn in PAage 37 Sarah Janeborn in KYage 10 Henryborn in INage7 Bushrod Alexander born in VAage 21
Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Janet Risinger
