SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Ruby Lee Rives Price, 85, will be conducted at the Osborn Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 5, at 1 P.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 4, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Officiating will be Deacon Bill Roche of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Rev. Kathy Wafer of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
Lee was born the second of seven children in Hardin, Texas, on July 20, 1924 to Wallace and Ella Rives. Lee passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009, at WK Pierremont. She worked at Hughes Tool Company in Houston prior to her marriage to Earl Price. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for 20 years at Schumpert and served for 20 years as a two-year-old Sunday School teacher at Broadmoor United Methodist Church where she was a charter member. Lee was also a charter member at East Ridge Country Club where she enjoyed dining with family and friends and playing bridge. Lee will be remembered as the family's beautiful "Steel Magnolia," a true Southern lady filled with beauty, charm, and grit in addition to being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved to cook, sew, shop, laugh, talk, and play bridge at every opportunity.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Earl Price; an infant son, James Lee; her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Rives; and her brothers Allen and Bennie Rives.
She is survived by her daughter Fran Price and her granddaughter Leanne Price of Shreveport; her son Bruce Price and wife Cindy and grandson Brent Price and wife Amy of Marietta, GA; grandchild Kim Price Feldman and husband Adam, great-grandchild Abigail Feldman of Catonsville, MD; her sisters Florence Kaufman, Annie Jo Davis of Liberty, TX; sister Janelle Hunt of Redding, CA; brother James Rives of Hardin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
