Surname Robart

By Edwin Merryman March 12, 2006 at 08:03:11

I have found a will listed in 1714 in Amwell Twp., Hunterdon Co., N. J. for Vincent Robart listing wife Madeline, sons Vincent aned John. Among his effects was a French Bible. This surname, with names Vincent and John spread through southern N. J. then elsewhere. I have tried to place it to GenForum with no success. I do not know why it is not accepted. Mt gggrandfather was John Robart, wife Amelia "Milly" possibly English. The only way this name can be accessed, by me, is through gedcoms. My John Robart moved into Cape May Co., N. J. before 1798. His apparent brother, Vincent, moved from Salem Co., N. J. to Cape May Co. about the same time. The name became chanced to Rubart, Rewbart, Rubert, Rhubart, Rheubart and possibly others.
