Hi Joyce, Manati was founded in 1738 so mostly likely all marriage, birth and death records are at the church of Arecibo before that date. I would be interesting if Rafael did a Y-DNA test though. As you know the Canovanas, Fajardo and Luquillo Robles, whom came from Manati in the 1700’s and the Ciales Robles whom all came from Jayuya and before that Ponce are related! Anyone would think that they migrated from Manati to Ciales since these two municipalities border each other. The earliest known ancestor of this Ciales family was born in Ponce about 1725. Our common ancestor, the missing link, existed about 300 years ago. Not all the Robles of Puerto Rico are related though. There is a family that came from Murcia, Spain in the 1800’s and our Y-DNA didn’t match. The Spaniard from Murcia that came first settled in Morovis then the family moved to Bayamon and there are very few of these Robles. Well anyway, at least we would know for sure that we have an ancestor in common.
