Dear John B.,
Do you consider your (earliest) William Rochelle to be a son of John? whose wife is reported to have been Elizabeth Boone?
I descend from John and Elizabeth's son James Rochelle b. 15 July 1752 in Sussex Co., VA, and his 1st wife Sylvia Jordan who married 15 Feb 1775 in Granville Co., NC, and went from Wake Co. to Kershaw Dist. SC by 25 Nov 1776 when their oldest son Anderson Rochelle was born there.
James's 2nd wife was Margaret Evans md. abt 1781 and they had several more children and both left estate records in Fairfield Co. SC.
Anderson Rochelle md. abt 1806 Nancy Ann Harrison, daughter of Reuben Harrison of Fairfield Co., who gave them part of his large land holdings and built them a fine house. After their daughters married, Anderson and Nancy and their children and sons-in-law went to Perry Co. AL abt 1837.There Anderson died and left a will in 1842 and Nancy died and left a will in 1846.
Their only son Dr. James Rochelle died in 1839, leaving a will. After the death of both sons-in-law in Perry Co. AL, the daughters Mary Ann (Bryant) and Sarah E. J. Rochelle (Ross)went to Union Par., LA ca 1851.Sarah (my gr-gr-grandmother) died abt a year later and her sister Mary moved to Union Co. AR (just across the state line).
Having made some effort to "sort out" the Wake Co. Rochelles based on published county records, I'd be happy to hear from you at [email protected].
