I have just posted a more extensive posting for a Rohde descendant named Galovic "desperately seeking" her Rohde ancestors. You can see my posting on Germany Genforum (country) or by looking up my message posting history. You know that Ostpreussen or "East Prussia" is the same as Konigsberg/Koenigsberg, it was a possession of Prussia within Poland which the Hohenzollern kings of Prussia settled with German families. One of these families, the von Schaibles, were made the Princes of Koenigsberg (East Prussia) and the branch of Rohdes who settled in Koenigsberg with them were raised to status something like the degree of hereditary knights, in the new aristocracy of Koenigsberg. Some of these German settlers in Ostpreussen, or East Prussia within Poland, were Johann Rohde and his wife Dorothea Schulz. Their children were Louise and Heinrich Herrmann Rohde who was born 23 Oct at Tappelkeim and christened 26 Oct 1828 at Schoenbruch, Kreis, Friesland, both in Ostpreussen. The Familie Wappen or coat-of-arms can be viewed at http://www.rohde-ostpreussen.de/http://www.rohde-ostpreussen.de/ and as recently as 9/22/1943 there was a Walter Rohde in Panzer Division fighting for Germany. Captain Heinrich Hermann Rohde of Prussian cavalry serving under Prince v.Schaible died about 1870 fighting for German reunification as the "Second Reich" so that his king, the Hohenzollern king in Prussia, could become Kaiser of a united German Empire.
