A will for Thomas Cave of Prince George's County, MD, recorded April 10, 1787, sheds a bit of light on the previous post. Sarah Cave was the daughter of Thomas and Jane Cave, who moved to VA from MD about 1787. She was married to John Adam Rollings on the same day that the will of Thomas Cave was recorded, and her husband was a witness to it. She had a sister named Jane, to whom she left half of her estate, but the surname in Sarah's will is misleading. It is written "JaneW__, wife of James Wharling of Rockbridge County, VA." However, Jane's husband was James McFarland, and he appears in the 1830 census of that county. (Jane Cave and James McFarland were married in Fauquier County, VA, on January 18, 1794, although the record shows it as Jean Cave and James McFarlin.) Sarah and Jane Cave had brothers named Thomas and Samuel. There may have been other siblings as well.
