Rawlin(g)s-Rollin(g)s Family History Association
Since 1987 the Rawlin(g)s-Rollin(g)s Family History Association has published a newsletter. The association has collected information from members on the surnames Rawlings, Rollings, Rawlins, Rollins and all other variations. I joined in 1998 when I learned of the association from a Texas Rawlings. The newsletter helped me to locate a branch of my own family.
Since I joined and for a number of years before that, the association files and newsletter were under the care of Katherine Rawlings. The newsletter ceased publication as of January. Katherine's son is very ill and her time is devoted to him.
There is a person ready to take over the files of the History Association. He will not be available until November. Until then, Katherine will still take calls and letters from folks looking for information. I have volunteered to take over if the current arrangements fall through. I also have all of the newsletters from 1993 to the present. I will be getting copies of the rest of the newsletters when Katherine has time to send them to me. She assures me that all of the information she has accumulated is contained in the newsletters. Anyone looking for information may call or write to Katherine or they can contact me. I would need a couple of days for research, but I will be happy to help.
I know that many of you have websites, but would you be interested in having a site where the back issues of the newsletters would be available for download? I would be willing to set it up and maintain it if there is enough interest. It would have to be by subscription since there would be cost involved in obtaining server space. I was think of charging $7.50 per year which was the same cost of the yearly subscription to the History Association newsletter. Members could also submit new information. I am also investigating ways to make the information available for free.
Please email me if you are interested in an Internet version of the Rawlin(g)s-Rollin(g)s Family History Association.
