I am not hole so far as 1757. I can't find a Barent Romans. But Barent is a Dutsch name, from the west of Holland. The Romans people they came from the South of the Netherlands. There in that part of the county is an other dialect and the name Barent as a surename is not usual. At the other way, the surenames in the south were a that time not usual in the west. Thats why i think maybe that Romans-men has got a more regular surename from the west people. The west people they lived on the sea and they go in that dayes to New Holland, Nieuw Amsterdam later called New York.
