Hi, my great-great grandfather emigrated from Scotland to Gault, Ontario. I have a bit of information about the family tree (see below) mostly gleaned from the Gault cemetery, and relatives. It would be interesting to fill in more details from the 1800s. Wondering if any other of his descendents have more info about the early years in Canada? The original family house still stands near Gault - I remember seeing it as a teenager.
One of the Ronald graves at the cemetery didn't seem to fit in the bit of family tree I had - does anyone know where this info fits in? Robert Ronald, born 1862, died Oct 15, 1926, was married to Jane Bond, born 1866, died Nov 7, 1950
Hugh and Jane Ronald had 6 children 1. Hugh, died at 4 yrs of age on Feb 22, 1858 2. William, born April 1825, died June 8, 1885 3. Jane, died at 2 yrs of age on Sept 6/1853 4. Janet, died at 19 yrs of age on July 10/1859 5. Mary, died at 27 yrs of age on Feb 15, 1878
Willam married Helen ? . They had 3 children 1. Charles, born Nov 1867, died at 2 yrs of age in April 1869 2. David 3. E. Bickett, born 1864, died 1934
E. Bickett Ronald married Louise Kitchen who lived from 1860-1936
David married Elizabeth Capland and had 5 children. 1.Janet, died Feb 1 1885 2. Elizabeth, died May 18, 1888 3. David Russell, drowned at 21 yrs of age, June 5, 1890 4. Alan 5. William Ernest
Our family has a copy of a letter written by Elizabeth telling of the drowning of her son David Russell. My father was named Russell in his memory.
Alan married and had a son (Alan Jr) and a daughter.
William married Elizabeth Crake and had 8 children, of whome 3 are still living 1. Grace 2. J. Russell (my father) 3. James 4. David 5. Elizabeth 6. Mary 7. William 8. Emily
