I'm looking for a tie-in on James Rooks,(b.1829 Warren or Jefferson County Georgia, d. around 1880 Baker County Georgia. He was a son of Fredrick Rooks of Warren, Jefferson, or Irwin County Georgia.
AND William Zachariah Rooks, (also known as Zachariah Hezakiah Rooks, Sr.)Zachariah moved over to Baker County from Sumpter County Georgia in 1843.
Apparently James, the son of Fredrick choose to go to Baker County with Zachariah where he is shown in the 1850 Baker census with Zachariah and his family and working as a farm laborer. James married into the same Jordan family as one of Zachariah's children and showed up in all Census reports through 1880.
Zackariah was killed in 1856 by a drunk, his two sons died in the war which left James the only man left to tend the farm which he apparently did until his death.
I'm fairly certain James served in the civil war but I've yet to discern his particular records and I have no idea how He ties in with Zackariah's family.I think its reasonable to assume a blood relation but to save me I've yet to figure it out.
Would appreciate any comparing and sharing anyone may be interested in.
