Hello, The first problem is you are interchanging the Raper's and Ropers in your research. A very easy "mistake".After researching for many yearss it was all to common for those transcribing to turn an "a" into an "o".I could show you hundreds of records where this has happened. You must remember that most people could not read or write, so it was left up to the transcriber to get it right. that pretty much was a 50/50 chance. Don't limit your search to just Roper, but also look at Raper. You must research with your eyes wide open or you will continue to run into walls. Your right about about Thomas Raperand Caty McDaniel. They are Cherokee. You are also right about the Standridge also a cherokee family, allso involved with the Raper's. The problem is you are looking into the wrong name. They are Raper's If I may, both the Roper's and Raper's have a DNA project. This hands down is the best place to start. I did by having my DNA test done by FamilytreeDNA. iF YOU ARE INTERESTED I can send you their info. Well worth sorting out if your ancestors where Raper's or Roper's. This will really help you big time in your genealogy research. If you have any questions, or anything you might need help in, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I can help you with what you are researching. That is my ancestors line also.
