Have received the marriage application and license for my great grandparents -- James Ralph Miller and Alzadea Rosencrans. The document is interesting in itself in that both of them were age 19 in 1895 and parental consent was required for James. His father's name is listed, but his mother's is not even though she was living at the time. Alzadea's parents are not listed and neither is there a guardian's name shown. They were both from Lawrence Township, Clearfield Co., PA and were "united in marriage" by Rev. L.M. Brady (no denomination showing). Alzadea had also started to spell her last name Rosenkrans, but changed it to Rosencrans. I guess my questions are, why is this document from the Orphan's Court and exactly what is an "orphan's court"? Does this mean she was an orphan? If so, how do I go about finding Alzadea's parents? Any pointers, tidibits or actual information would be greatly appreciated!
