To Marilyn Gooch I cannot imagine that there were two Julius Rosenstiels in Neustadt. Rosenstiel is not a very common name. Ludwig is a Rosenstiel name which is in several generations, and my husband was originally Otto Ludwig Peter Rosenstiel before anglicising to Peter Lewis Rost. I have two Julius Rosenstiels both from Neustadt. Julius the elder was the much older brother of my husband's grandfather Oskar. Born I would imagine in the 1850s. Oskar was born in 1866. I understand he was a general. He fought in Mexico and was in the Middle East for some time. By the outbreak of the second world war he was dead, but his widow, living in Neustadt, was taken to the US with the American diplomatic transport. I understand that she was alive in 1947, living in Wilmington. The second Julius, also born in Neustadt, is I believe, her son, who was writing to my husband's grandmother (in England) from the US as "Tante Rosa" in 1947.My husband's cousin thinks that he was married. Can you let me have dates for your Julius Rosenstiel and I can see if they fit.
