A shoemaker named Louis Rossing. In 1880, Louis, widowed or divorced, lived at 137 Pavonia Avenue with: Herman, age 14; Lulu, age 10; and Joseph, age 2. All three were born in New Jersey.
The earliest mention of Rossing in Jersey City city directories is in the 1862/63 edition. He then lived at 22 Prospect Street. Incidentally, his first name is spelled "L-e-w-i-s," the only occurrence of this spelling.
In @1881 Rossing married my ancestor, Dora (Weichman) Vogt, a widow with several children.
I am very interested to learn what became of the ROSSING children listed above.
