Yes, I live in the US.I live in Arlington, Virginia which is next to Washington D.C.
My grandfather, at the age of 16, came alone to New York City in 1904 from Minsk Belarus (western Russia where people from this region are also known as White Russians.) Minsk is very close to Lithuania. He name was Joseph Roubo and he died in 1940.He fell from a ladder and broke his ankle, the infection to his ankle is what killed him a year after his fall.
My grandmother's name was Antonina Jenkovic or Jankovic. My dad will check his birth certificate for the correct spelling. She was born in Lithuania and came to NYC (date unknown) with her family. She died in 1926 at the young age of 32.Her death was the result of a back injury she obtained from a train collision.
My father, Bernard Roubo, is the youngest of three siblings. He was born in 1920 and lives here in Northern Virginia with my mother. My Dad's brother Anthony Roubo was born in 1917 and lives in MA and NJ with his wife.Their sons and my first cousins, Frank and Jody Roubo, live in NY and NJ.Frank and his wife have a son named Michael Roubo. My Dad's sister Josephine Chebat was born in 1916 and now lives in South Caroline with her daughter Alice and son-in-law. Josephine's son Kenneth and his family live in NY.
My two older brothers, Robert and Stephen and their wives, live here in Northern Virginia too.And I have two teenage sons named Christopher and Austin Roubo.
I have a picture of my grandfather and one of my grandparents' wedding which I will try to digitalize in an effort to share them with you.
BTW, do you have a relative that works or worked for the Dept. of Justice in Maine (I believe the Border Patrol)?I left DOJ (Justice Management Division) here in Washington about fours ago, but I remember seeing another Roubo in our email system.Unfortunately, I never tried to contact the person at the time I worked there, but always wondered if we might be related.
