Isaac Rounsavall Sr. was born in the Jersey Settlement of Rowan County, North Carolina in 1761 or 1762. He was the eldest child born to David Rounsavall (~1735-~1815) and Bridget Heaton. He removed with his parents to Eatons Station, near Kingsport, Tennessee in early 1776.In 1779, at about age 17, he went with a lead party of settlers through the Cumberland Gap, up into Kentucky and then down to what is now Nashville, Tennessee. He was one of the original settlers of what is now Nashville. He was married to Elizabeth Ramsey (d/o William Ramsey and Hannah Ramsey) in Davidson County, Tennessee in about 1788.
He removed into Warren and Livingston Counties in Kentucky in about 1795 and remained there until around 1809, when he is found in Bedford County, Tennessee. By 1812 Isaac and family are located in Natchez, Mississippi. They stayed in and around Franklin and Copiah counties in Mississippi until the mid 1830s when they moved into northern Louisiana. His children then moved into eastern Texas around the 1850s.Isaac Rounsavall died in Caddo Parish, Louisiana in 1846. Children are:
