As I look through my notes, I am becoming convinced that your Belle is the sister of my James.I have a birthdate of 1845 for Isabella.I found in my notes that the family was indeed in Pendleton County for the 1860 census. In the 1850 and 1870 censuses they were in Covington. However, Isabella was not there in 1870, which would make sense if she married in 1865.
I have been trying for a long time to find out what their father’s name was. I think you may have just provided that information! Here is what I know about the Routts. The father (perhaps Columbus?) died about 1850, around the time my g-g-grandfather James Wesley was born. There were five children that I know of:Thomas (b. 1839), James J. (b. 1941), Isabella (b. 1845), Columbus (b. 1847), and James Wesley (b. 1850).I would guess that Thomas and James J. were the Civil War veterans you mentioned. The mother was Lucretia Metcalf (b. abt 1815 in Paris KY- d. 1883 Covington KY).Lucretia remarried about 1852 to William Edmonds. This marriage produced two more sons: John W. (b. 1853) and Charles Edmonds (b. 1855).
