Robert Watson, B. 1830 Casey (Now Boyle) Co., KY, D. late 1863 or early 1864 in Boyle Co.Married a second time 17 Jan 1853, Boyle Co. to Miss Elizabeth Cammil Rowsey, B. 1834, Lincoln Co., KY, D. early 1867, Boyle Co.Daughter of Jordan Rowsey and unknown second wife.Children: 1. Elvira Elizabeth Watson, 2. Alexander Daniel Watson, 3. George W. Watson, and 4. Robert Austin Watson.
Robert and Elizabeth married and had four children.Robert passed away, possibly because of the war, and Elizabeth remarried second 1 Nov 1864, Boyle Co., KY to Osborn Pendegraft. When Elizabeth passed away in early 1867, the children were taken to the Shaker Community in Mercer County in May of 1867.I guess Osborn didn't know what to do with his step children.Osborn remarried in 1870 to the widow, Mrs. Rebecca (Watson) Fuell.First cousin to Robert. He died very shortly afterwards.
What happened to the children after 1880?They were living with the Shakers in 1870 and in Mercer County in 1880 and then disappeared.
1. Elvira Elizabeth married her cousin Francis Marion Goode and was listed in the 1880 census in Casey County with one son and Elvira's step grandmother Mrs. Nancy (Curry) Rowsey.(Note: Nancy died after 1880, not 1870 as many records state.)Elvira disappears after 1880.
2. Alexander "Alex" Daniel married Emma Rossell (Rosseau). She was born in Franklin Co., Ky and the daughter of Eli Rossell. They lived in Franklin Co. in 1900 and shortly after moves to Johnson County, IN and had about 6 children.Alex dies after 1920.
3. George W. marries Amanda Frances Rowsey, his first cousin.Daughter of Smith Rowsey.Listed in 1880 Mercer County and disappears afterwards.
4. Robert "Bob" Austin learns to be a Civil Engineer from the Shakers and surveys the locks and dams on the Kentucky River.Becomes town constable for Beattyville, KY and married Rebecca Dorothy Jones, a local school teacher. Her father Stephen Marion Jones owned a local tavern. After two children, she dieds of consumption in 1892 and Robert leaves to serve in the Spanish-American War.He is killed in Lexington, KY on 28 July 1898.
I really don't have a problem with Alex and Bob, but really could use the help on Elvira and George.
