I wonder if anyone has Royle links to either of these two areas.
While doing some local research for a cousin's cousin I've pieced together a fair amount of information on a family involving a Samuel Royle born at Altrincham circa 1790 but who clearly moved into the Tonge Fold, Bolton area of Lancashire as early as 1815. Samuel is possibly the son of George ROYLE and Mary SUMNER married at Bowdon, Cheshire in 1776.
Samuel's descendants seem to have been associated for a time with the "Dug 'n' Kennel" Pub (also known as the Park View Inn) at Tonge Fold; an establishment imortalised in local literature by Teddy Ashton (Allen Clarke)at the turn on the 19th Century.
