I'm not sure if I'm even on the right track. My Great Grandmother, married to James Coley, was called Royal(Christian or surname, I don't know). Her family is said to have owned the Royal Glassworks in the Liverpool area which was later sold to Pilkington. When I made enquiries at the Glass Museum in St. Helens, it was they who suggested Tobias Royle may have been the owner. Having recently discovered my family, past knowledge is shaky, I do know however, that my Great Grandparents spent much of their lives at sea, working on the ocean-going liners and that this could be why I can't find anything in the 1881 census.
