John Goad of Bedford County, Virginia left a will in 1771. She was married twice, Catherine and Ann (Isham). He had possibly three childreb by Ann, Abraham, Robert and Ann. They wewre half-sibs to Joanna (Goad) Sevier, mother of Gov. John Sevier.
In John's will, Ann is named as Ann Risden.
Abraham Goad (ca 1740-1816) died in Anderson County, Tenn. and is the ancestor of hundreds of Goads who lived in Anderson/Scott/Fentress.Morgan counties later.
I think it is said Ann's husband was John Risden but I will have to check that.
I have found a couple Risdens on early census records (1830 ?) for Anderson or Campbell counties, Tenn. I'll check that also. I think one was Abraham Risden. Have you found the same ?
These are likely your families.
Abraham Goad had daughters who married Robert "Robin" Lawson and Thomas Phillips. These families too went to Anderson County. The Goad son who went there and stayed was Joshua Goad, born 1786 in Va.
