Linda, I have so far been unable to determine the maiden name of John Ruddell's second wife, Elizabeth D., shown born Mississippi, 27 yrs old in 1860, household #140, Sabine Co., TX. If you have documentation associating John with a Frazier wife, I would love to have that data!
The only Frazier connection with John, as far as I know, was in the 1850 census, when Andrew Frazier 15, born TN, is a member of the household.John's first wife, Margarett, was also from TN, but her maiden name was Delaney.Andrew Jackson Frazier was a twin, whose father, Martin Gaines Frazier, left him and his brother John Newton Frazier, with friends in Sabine Co. when he (the father) and another son, William, went to the gold fields. They were never heard from again. The boys' mother was Martha Mayfield Frazier. She must have died in childbirth or shortly after the birth of Thomas in 1840.Andrew was left with John Ruddell and John was left with Dr. Lawrence McGuire. Their sister, Elizabeth Frazier, was raised by John C. McKean and his wife, who at one time lived in Gonzales Co., TX. Elizabeth married Clinton DeWitt and had three children. Clinton badly abused Elizabeth, and her brother, Thomas, killed Clinton on July 2, 1860. Thomas escaped to Louisiana but returned to Texas several years later. The case against him was dropped. I found this data in the library in Gonzales, TX.
