Yes, it is Grayson Co., Virginia. My fingers out ran my brain. The Ruddicks began departing when the area was still Montgomery Co.
If you are asking about Solomon b. about 1753, Warrington, Pennsylvania, his children by Ann Bedsaul are: Elisha b. 1779Chestnut Creek, VA William b. 7 Oct. 1781 Chestnut Creek, VA Jesse b. 4 May 1784 Chestnut Creek, VA Mary b. 7 April 1787 Chestnut Creek, VA Ann b. about 1789 Chestnut Creek, VA
Chestnut Creek was a Quaker community located southeast of today's Galax, VA on the Grayson/Carroll County line.
The Ketcham family built a fortification in the area of Section 11 near Brownstown.David Hinton was killed by natives near here on April 7, 1812.John Ruddick was on the 1812 tax list here. The area north of Jackson County that was to become Bartolomew County was known as Delaware County. I believe that Jackson Co. was Harrison County.
I'm sorry, but I do not have the names of any of the casualties other than Hinton. One of the Ruddick men was shot but not killed in one of the Indian attacks.
I did have some additional information on the 1812 eras Indian attacks but I can not locate the information at this time.
Please contact me directly if you need anything additional.
