Dear Carol, Thank you for answering my e-mail to you dated 20/05/05. At the moment I am in the Hampstead Spinal Rehabilitation Unit undergoing therapy and Rehab for a Spinal Tumour. The good news however is that I will be going home in the next few weeks I hope. So at the moment the address that has been set up for me is a temporary one at the Hampstead Hospitals Internet Cafe (it's a great idea for the hospital and patients), I will be pleased to send to you a copy of what I have managed to gather over the last six or seven years, my sister Mavis and I have made a concentrated effort to find out as much as we can about the family. I am doing the research side of things and Mavis was/is collecting all the family photographs. I do a copy for her so as she can load it onto her computer and she does likewise for me, that way we do not have to worry about computer crashes and loosing all the data. That is why you may see a different name on the pages of information sent ie. my sister has printed of a copy of our reserch for you so I can send it to you a little later (when I get home )and when I get your snail mail address at the moment I can not give you a lot of information but when I get home (within the next three weeks I hope ). My nephew will have repaired my computer (Minor hard drive problem), and added the net I can then organize to send you all I have this will include photo's and newspaper cuttings etc, I hope it sheds some light on your side of the family and that whatever you have discovered about the Ruddock/Bailey union etc. To tell you the truth I have hit a brick wall in my research I know how and when they arrived in South Australia. I have a copy of the passenger list , listing all who were on board the ship that they sailed on and what dates and ports they sailed from .That is about as much as I can say that I know about them. I know a little about John Ruddocks schooling ie, when and where he attended , I know very little about Elizabeth Bailey even on their death certificates the names of their parents are not listed (this is very unusal ?? ) One thing on the ships passenger listing that has me puzzelled. It also has listed along with John and Elizabeth Ruddock was an Ann Ruddock, this Ann is a complete mystery to me I can find no record relating to her ??? Who was she ? daughter? sister, neice, cousin, who ?? just a little information for you John and Elizabeth Ruddock along with Ann Ruddock sailed from London on the ship "City of Manchester" on the 9th March 1851 sailed on to Portsmouth before sailing on the24th March for Adelaide South Australia arriving Adelaide on the 16th July 1851. Carol at this point I will close but I will post some more infornation at a later date, please feel free to pass this or any of the information on to any others who may be interested.
