Hello all Ruhnow researchers! As I looked at the "Ruhnow" message board, I noticed that all the messages seemed to apply to Emil Ruhnow, even my own, even though I do not know an Emil Ruhnow. So I thought I'd post another message with more information regarding the Ruhnow line I am researching. Here are some names and dates that I know of and a few guesses (that I have marked with a ? ):
AUGUST RUHNOW(great-grandfather) born 1828 in Pommern CAROLINE HENRIETTA geb. EGMER RUHNOW born 1828 Gross Rackitt, Kreis Stolp, Hinterpommern
These two were married in 1861 in Pommern and emigrated with two children in 1880 to central Illinois: (1) EVANGELINA (LENA) RUHNOW (born 1866) - married in IL to August MORENZ
(2) JOHANNES (JOHN) RUHNOW (born 1871 in Jerskewitz, Kreis Stolp) - married Johanna Wilhelmina BIALESCHKI in 1898 in IL
I believe that August Ruhnow had a brother Friedrich who did not emigrate and perhaps a sister who married a gentleman whose name was Friedrich Baaske from the Lupow area of Pommern. I also know of a nephew (probably Friedrich's son) whose name was Albert Ruhnow, who also stayed in Pommern/Prussia.
We have not been successful in obtaining any records of this family and would like to find others who may be researching the name "RUHNOW". Other suranmes related to this family in Germany are: Butterbrodt Egmer Baaske Naggatz Skibbe
