I'm hoping that anyone with Ruoff ancestors that immigrated from Wurttemberg, Germany will post thier information to this thread to hopefully, make it easier for others to find information about Wurttemberg Ruoff's.
I'm having trouble finding any passenger, sibling or parental information on our Frederick Ruff line. We know from cemetery, church death records and censuses that he was born on 10/12/1812, in Wurttemberg, married Rebecca Loeffler in 1833 in Fairfield County, OH and settled there and later moved to Hocking County, OH. We believe that he is related somehow to other Ruff's/Ruoff's that also settled in Fairfield and Hocking Counties, OH from Wurttemberg but can't find the connection. He had at least one other sibling that we know of for sure, a brother Jacob, born in 1810, who also settled in Fairfield County, OH. There is a very informative autobiography in the Fairfield County, OH library 'History of the John George Ruff Family' written by John A. and Marilyn L. Ruff that is full of information derived from actual church records from Dobel, Evangelische churchbooks dating back to Ruoff's in the 1650's from Wurttemberg. Two descendants that married, immigrated and settled in Fairfield County and Hocking Co. OH were Anna Maria Ruff, b. 3/15/1800 (Johannes Ruoff, John George Ruoff, Hans Jorg Ruoff, Hans Christoph Ruoff Jr., Hans Christoph Ruoff) and Johann Gottlieb Ruff b. 3/27/1790 (Johann George Ruoff, Johann George Ruoff, Hans Jorg Ruoff, Hans Christoph Ruoff Jr., Hans Christoph Ruoff). Anna Maria Ruff and Johann Gottlieb Ruff were related in that their fathers were brothers. This book claims that at the time of the printing of this book (1966), there was no known relationship between our Frederick Ruff and any of the Ruff/Ruoff families in the area at the time. I'm positive that there was, I just can't prove it yet! I have a copy of this book if anyone would like a look up. If anyone has any information on the parentage or siblings of our Frederick Ruff that died in Hocking COunty, OH in 1897, I'd sure appreciate the information.
