Four months ago I started helping my 10 year son James with a school project to do a family tree. In the last two months I have found 100's of cousins I didnt know existed but have hit a brick wall. Can anyone help me.
My g-grandfather Michael Ruff was born in Baden (census records show) in 1858. He married my g-grandmother Elizabeth Hanenberger in 1884 in London on 25th December at St Georgs Kircshe, Alie Street, Whitechapel, London. The only evidence I have of Michael is a copy of the original marriage certificate in German, a cousin has the original. I have however found a Michael Ruoff born in Wurtemburg Germany in Nov 1858 and am trying to get information on him, yet another brick wall.
According to records Johannes Ruoff m Anna Marria Schneider, children Matthaus 1860, Wilhelm 1877, Jakob 1863, Johannes 1861, Johann Georg 1865, Fredrich 1870, Anna Maria 1867, Dorothea 1873, Maria 1871, Michael 1858.
Michael Ruff of London worked as a soap boiler and then skindyer in London, he went on the have 14 children and it is the grand children and great grandchildren of Michael who have found each other and got hooked on our tree.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and if we make a connection beware there is a very large family in England, with mutltiple births all over the place.
