I'm not a genealogy enthusiast but I just happened to stumble on this forum (and of course couldn't 'put it down'). My family originates from the same area as Sybil, i.e. the borders of Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales. My father was Philip Thomas Ruscoe, born in Mold (North Wales) hospital (I think the family was living in Holywell at the time, which is near Denbigh). His father's name was Harry and his mother was Sofia Jones. Harry and Sofia moved to Earlswood (near Birmingham) in the 1920's I think. Father died in 1998 but his sister Marian is still alive and lives in Lichfield. I was born in Birmingham in 1952 and moved to Stoke-on-Trent in 1974. There are a lot of Ruscoes in the phone book for that area, but very few in either the Birmingham or Manchester phone books (in case you don't know, both Birmingham and Manchester are large cities with populations > 1000000 with Birmingham about 50 miles to the south and Manchester about 35 miles to the north of Stoke-on-Trent) so obviously that area (oh sorry, Stoke-on-Trent is near the Cheshire/Shropshire/N.Wales area I mentioned above)) is very much a 'hot bed' of that spelling of the name. There are plenty of Roscoes in the Manchester phone book though. Anyhow, I moved to Orkney (Scotland) in 1987. I am married to Ann Elizabeth Ollerenshaw (in 1974) and we have a daughter, Siân Elizabeth, born Nov 29, 1991.
Sorry this is a bit rambling, but hope it may be of some use to any of you genealogy enthusiasts - I may even take it up myself!
