Yes, I am along this path.Ernest Harold Pond was my great grandfather.
Ernest Harold was son of George William Pond and Mary Ann Ruscoe.Mary Ann Ruscoe was one of the daughters of Thomas Pond and Elizabeth (Elliot?).
I have just posted the following message on the Ruscoe Family Genealogy Google Group.I take it that this is a different (but similar) site.Message as follows:
I am pleased to report that I have found further information on Ruscoe- Pond.
George suggested that I make contact with JE Ruscoe-Pond who were detailed in the british telecom and provided the details.I wrote to them and am delighted to have received a positive reply.
Malcolm Ruscoe-Pond (to whose wife I wrote - JE Ruscoe) passed away December 2006, but his wife Yoyce Elizabeth is familiar with the family history and confirmed Malcolm was a decendant of Mary Ann Ruscoe (1838) and George William Pond (1834c).He descended from the eldest son George (1867c), and I decend from George's Brother, Ernest Harold Pond (1878)
Mary Ann Ruscoe was one of 7 daughters of Thomas Ruscoe (1805) and Elizabeth (Elliot?) (1805) and they lived at Underhill House, Bernet. The sisters were known as the "Seven Belles of Bernet".Sisters were Elizabeth, Harriet, Alice, Emma, Catherine and Eliza?
Interestingly there were two families of Ruscoe-Ponds.Mary Ann's sister, Harriet also married a Pond - Edward John, who I presume was a brother of George William Pond.
George - I think that the grandson (Edward R Pond) who was with Elizabeth and Thomas Ruscoe in the 1871 census, is likely the son of Harriet Ruscoe and Edward John Pond, unless he passed before the 1881 census as there is no record of him with George and Mary Ann.
The 1851 census of Mary, Emma and Catherine looks to be correct.
I do not know the parents of Thomas Ruscoe (1805) but can confirm he had an Aunt Elizabeth Ruscoe and an Uncle Thomas Ruscoe (1786c).Mary Ann Ruscoe and her sister Harriet were with their Great Uncle Thomas in the 1861 census.
I would love to hear from you and where you fit it.
