Joseph Russo, 66, of Indio died June 5, 2005, in Indio. He was born July 4, 1938, to Felix and Henrietta Sitter Russo in Los Angeles.
He married Diana J. Polley on Feb. 14, 1974, in Covina.
He was in the telephone communications industry.
He was a softball umpire for 30 years and a member of the Palm Springs Senior Softball Organization.
He served in the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Diana J. Russo of Indio; four daughters, Henrietta Kelley of Kingman, Ariz., Tami J. Bellino of Etiwanda, Cynthia J. Salido of Victorville and Susan C. Gray of Indio; two sons, John J. Russo of Bieber and Jeffrey D. Wassenaar of Lancaster; a brother, Phillip L. Russo of Perris; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wiefels & Son Mortuary Chapel in Palm Springs.
Entombment will be private with arrangements under the direction of Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors in Palm Springs.
The family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of the Desert Communities in Palm Springs
