My mother is a one of the daughters (Edna Clemens (Sackman))of the Mercer Sackmans that you mention. She is still alive and living in Spokane Washington. Another daughter is Nettie Just (Sackman) who is also still alive and living in Eureka South Dakota. Both are in nursing homes and in their late 80's/early 90's. I know of some cousins in Washington but have never met them. My brother Wayne Clemens of Spokane has. The best way to get a handle on this geneology is to get on line with the Germans from Russia heritage center in Bismark North Dakota. We have a cousin that has done some research and traced the family back to about the 15th century. Essentially this group originated in Germany, migrated to Russia under the reign of Katherine the Great, and then came to this country when the welcome mat in Russia wore out. Essentially the Germans did not become culturally integrated into Russian society and like many other such groups moved on when the winds changed. Where do you live and what do you know?
