Helen: I have the Saffell line mentioned here. Samuel Saffell. My wife is of him and his son Joshua Saffell b. 1750 who was a "Fifer" in the Rev. war. I show 2 other sons of Samuel: Charles & William. Joshua m. VerlindaPhather and died in NC. Children were: Ruth Saffell, James Grimes Saffell, Elizabeth Saffell, Walter Saffell, Amos, Anna, & Barbary Saffell.
Our line goes to James Grimes Saffell who m. Amy Wheat Jacobs dau. of Zachariah Jacobs & Dorcas Summers. I have no further info on her parents.
Then son William Jacob Saffell b. TN 1802 m. Mary Templeton, in Lawrence Co., AL.
Then their dau. Nancy Jane Saffell m. John Millard Carlisle (Carlile) in MS. John died in MS abt. 1872 and Nancy took the children and went by Steamboat (about 1872-1873) to Ozark, Franklin Co., Arkansas. It goes on and on but Nancy never remarried and in 1900 was living with her dau Mary and SIL Samuel Kennedy.
About 1910 she went to (we think Yell Co.) AR to another relatives house. It was winter time and she was washing clothes outside and caught her death. We are unable (still searching) for a burial record and location. It could be Yell Co., or southern Franklin CO.
We are going there next month and plan to do additional research.
