When I read your post again, I wanted to let you know that the Last Will to which you refer is not my basis for naming ANN, wife of William a SCHELL.
Here are my research notes Re: Jacob SCHELL who was in Montgomery Co VA and regarding Cornelius SALE, son of WILLIAM and ANN SALE, who may have been dau of Jacob SCHELL.
Jacob SCHELL: GER>PA>VA. Montgomery Co VA, New River-RADFORD area, which was called "Horseshoe" .
I believe this Jacob Schell ( and there were a few who came to VA and NC from PA) to be a brother to Michael SCHELL who married M. YODER, whose Last Willis mentioned below.
The Last Will of one Michael Schell lists "Jacob who now lives in Virginia" as his eldest son. It also lists daughter Mary who married Henry SELL/SALE. This shows a clear connection between the SALE and SCHELL families in VA.
1708, arrival in PA- Johannes Scholl , from "1704-1709, Early Settlers to Skippack, PA"
AUGUST 19, 1756. Chalkey's Chronicles Francis Kerkley, Jacob Shell, Jacob Lingle. Christian Bingaman, John Bingaman, Henry Bingaman, added to tithables. State of VA.
Regarding Cornelius: "After the Revolutionary War, Cornelius was a brick mason and grist miller as well as a planter. He appears to have done a lot of brick work for the Moravian community in Wilkes County (Moravian papers) He and his brother, Leonard Sale, appear frequently in the court records, land records, etc. They served on the grand jury, were appointed to various committies and were overseers of road repairs." Makes sense that he would have done this if his mother's SCHELL/SCHEEL,etc families lived in the Moravian Village.
Barry, what can I say..I seek and find and then I draw a conclusion based on what I personally find. I document my sources and often make a note that this is based on my opinion..that's just the way I do it.
